ASTORIA, Queens (WABC) -- The roof and outer wall of a marble business collapsed early Wednesday morning in Queens.

It happened at Ionion Marble, Inc., located at 48-01 25th Avenue in Astoria, just after 4 a.m.

Department of Buildings inspectors and engineers determined that the front section of the building, including the approximately 40 feet by 25 feet roof, collapsed into the interior of the building and onto the sidewalk.

Following a full inspection of the building, it was determined that the rest of the structure is stable and not in danger of further collapse.

The owners of the property have hired an engineer and a contractor to clear debris from the site, perform emergency work to partially demolish the collapsed section of the building, and install a construction fence around the affected section of the building.

As a result of the collapse, DOB issued a violation to the building owner for a failure to maintain the building and issued a full vacate order.

No one was inside at the time, and there were no reports of any injuries.
