NEW YORK -- Most people don't realize how easy it is to become a potential lifesaver. Delete Blood Cancer DKMS and ABC7 are giving New Yorkers the opportunity to take part in one of the most exciting things you could do - provide someone with a second chance at life. On Wednesday July 9th, we invite all eligible individuals to the ABC studios on 67th and Columbus from 12 to 2 p.m. to register as potential bone marrow donors.

Registration is easy and simple. If you match a patient, you could have the opportunity to donate and help save someone battling a blood cancer like leukemia or lymphoma or a major blood disorder like sickle cell disease or aplastic anemia.

When it comes to matching patients with donors, we like to make sure it's a healthy relationship for both. Please review the following eligibility criteria to make sure that you are able to register:

Potential donors should:

  • Be between the ages of 18 and 55
  • Be in general good health
  • Be at least 4'10" and 110 lbs
  • Not have a BMI exceeding 40
  • Not have a personal history of cancer
  • Not suffer from a major chronic condition

If you are unable to make the drive on July 9th, you can still get involved! Register online at www.deletebloodcancer.org/register and receive your free kit in the mail.
