Two Port Authority police officers saved a baby deer they found stranded on a cliff

FORT LEE, New Jersey (WABC) -- Two alert Port Authority police officers rescued a baby deer that had gotten separated from its mother and stranded on a cliff in New Jersey Friday morning.

Officers on duty on the George Washington Bridge walkway heard the fawn's cries around 10:30 a.m. and found it in the area of the south side of the Palisades Cliffs.

Port Authority Officer Andrew Vignapiano retrieved the deer, while Officer Kevin Leonard secured the line from above.

The fawn was safely rescued and reunited with its mother at the scene.

There were no injuries.
