Giants sign veteran K Mike Nugent

The New York Giantson Tuesday signed veteran kicker Mike Nugent, who spent the previous seven seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals.

Nugent, 35, will compete with Aldrick Rosas for the Giants' kicking job. Rosas was the only kicker on the roster prior to Nugent's addition.

Nugent has connected on 236 of 292 field goal attempts over 153 career games.

The Giants had a open roster spot after undrafted rookie safety Jadar Johnson unexpectedly retired over the weekend.
