More bollards may be coming to NYC bike lanes
The City Council will vote on a measure providing more security for pedestrians.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The New York City Council is expected to pass legislation Tuesday to install more barricades protecting pedestrians.

The transportation committee voted in support of bill 1658A Monday, which will place more bollards in strategic locations.

The short, thick posts prevent cars from driving into pedestrians or bicycle zones, like what happened in the Halloween terror attack in TriBeCa that killed eight people.
