LONGWOOD, The Bronx (WABC) -- A woman died after being stabbed inside a deli in the Bronx on Thursday, according to police.
Authorities say officers responded to Jose Mini Market Inc., located at 549 Southern Blvd. in the Longwood section, around 3:15 p.m. for reports of a woman stabbed and critically injured.
Alex Ali was working the store when a fight broke out between two women. He says it got out of control fast.
"I was trying to break it up but when she took out the knife I backed up a little bit," Ali said.
Police say one woman stabbed another, a 29-year-old victim identified as Gwendolyn Guyton. She was stabbed multiple times in the neck and torso.
"She was laying down full of blood," witness Mario Marrero said. "She was really bad, really bad."
She was taken to NYC Health and Hospitals/Lincoln where she was pronounced dead.
None of the witnesses and friends of the victim that spoke with Eyewitness News know what started the argument.
Friends of the victim say that no matter what that argument was about, she didn't deserve to die that way.
"She had a 10-year-old son and that's sad," said Shelby Miller, a friend of the victim. "I mean, nothing can be that bad for someone to take someone's life."
The suspect fled on a white scooter and was last seen wearing a green shirt and blue sweatpants.
Surveillance video appears to show someone who matches the description of the suspect.
No arrests have been made, but the victim's friends hope that justice is swift.
The investigation is ongoing.
