FREEPORT, N.Y. (WABC) -- A Long Island man paid a stiff price for trying to find a bargain on Facebook.

The 21-year old was beaten and robbed at gunpoint in Freeport when he met another man to buy 65 Texas Instrument calculators for $1,000 cash.

The normal price would have been more than six times that amount.

Police say as the victim waited in his car, two men armed with a handgun entered the vehicle and demanded money.

When the victim refused, the suspects robbed him of his wallet containing several credit and debit cards and ordered him to drive to a bank. The victim gave the robbers his bank account pin number after they punched and threatened to shoot him.

Police say the robbers withdrew $1,000 and fled.
