Extra Time: Unpacking the latest on NYC's migrant crisis
In this edition of 'Eyewitness News Extra Time,' we begin with the 70,000 migrants who have arrived in New York City in the last year.

NEW YORK (WABC) -- In this edition of 'Eyewitness News Extra Time,' we begin with the 70,000 migrants who have arrived in New York City in the last year.



On Thursday, the city opened half a dozen temporary shelters, calling them "respite centers."



Additionally, the City Council is taking action to help the homeless already in shelters find housing by giving them vouchers.



Eyewitness News reporter N.J. Burkett was live in Lower Manhattan with the latest.

NYPD cruiser uses dangerous maneuvers to force scooter off Queens highway


An NYPD police cruiser used several unauthorized and dangerous maneuvers to force a scooter rider off a Queens highway. In video posted to social media, the cruiser is seen swerving in front of, behind and almost into the moped - forcing the operator to take an exit ramp. Former NYPD Chief of Detectives Robert Boyce said the video raises a number of issues.


Three years after George Floyd's death


Thursday marks three years since the death of George Floyd. Floyd died after former Minneapolis Police Officer Derek Chauvin pressed his knee into Floyd's neck for than nine minutes. Chauvin and three other officers either pleaded guilty or were found guilty on federal and state charges. Floyd's death set off protests across the world.



Taylor Swift concert tickets 'disappear' after families paid hundreds to StubHub


Some fans experienced a Taylor Swift concert catastrophe after tickets worth thousands suddenly disappeared. It comes after last fall when Ticketmaster's site crashed, leaving parents scrambling on the secondary ticket market. Seventh-grader Rosie Shalom and her big sister Anna have kept a Taylor Swift countdown for months. They even made their dad his own bedazzled Swifty Shirt to wear to the concert. But with three days to go until the show, the South Orange family got bad news.
