NYC Emergency Management commissioner on preparations for blizzard
New York City Emergency Management Commissioner Christina Farrell joined Eyewitness News to provide an update on storm preparations.
Farrell talked about three factors that makes this storm uniquely challenging, including the amount of snow, heavy winds and the potential for minor to moderate coastal flooding in coastal areas.
She described it as a trifecta of conditions coming together.

She said the city is also monitoring the potential for fires, power outages and downed tree limbs.
