NEW YORK (WABC) -- The 2026 version of New York Knicks proved Wednesday night that there is no deficit too large, and no obstacle that's insurmountable after staging one of the greatest comebacks in NBA Finals history over the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4.
The Spurs put the hurt on the Knicks early in Game 4.
San Antonio shot 60% from the floor in the first half, en route to an historic 27-point first half lead over New York. The Spurs' 14 first-half three-pointers also set an NBA Finals record.
At one point, New York was down 29 points, but slowly chipped away in the third quarter, and then closed the gap in the fourth.
Jalen Brunson helped bring the Knicks back with 36 points and OG Anunoby finished with 33.
No team had come from more than 24 points down in a finals game, when Boston did it against the Lakers in 2008, since the NBA began keeping detailed play-by-play for all four quarters in 1997. The Spurs led 81-52 in the third quarter.
The Knicks are now on the the doorstep of a championship with a 3-1 series lead, putting them one win away from their first NBA Finals title since 1973.

Are the Knicks in the midst of another historic comeback?
After being down by 29 points at point in the game, and 27 points at halftime, the Knicks have rallied to cut their deficit nearly in half at 15.
OG Anunoby and Jalen Brunson have been key contributors in their third quarter push, leading the team in scoring at 25 and 27 respectively.
Not only did the Spurs set an NBA Finals record with the largest first half lead at 27 points, they also set a finals record with 14 first-half three pointers made.
Yeah, the Spurs are dominating tonight.
The second quarter didn't go any better for the Knicks -- as the sharpshooting Spurs extended their lead over New York to 27 points.
San Antonio continued their miraculous field goal percentage, hitting what appeared to be nearly every three-point attempt.
Jalen Brunson leads the Knicks with 19 points at the half, but it has been no match for the relentless offensive attack by the Spurs across the board.
