JERSEY CITY -- A housing complex in Jersey City was imploded Saturday morning.

The Montgomery Gardens housing complex will be replaced with a mixed income affordable housing development for seniors.

The new housing is part of a $100 million-plus project to revitalize affordable housing.

As of 2013, 130 tenants lived in 80 apartments at the sprawling six-building, 434-unit complex on Montgomery Street. The complex opened in 1952.
