OAKLAND, New Jersey (WABC) -- A dog with a new leash on life is looking for his forever home after being discovered abandoned and paralyzed.
Manny is now using a doggy wheelchair to get around at the Ramapo-Bergen Animal Refuge.
The 8-year-old beagle was discovered dragging himself down the road.
He has muscle wasting and no pain sensation, indicating that he has been paralyzed for some time.
His rescuers say his spirit was never dragged down, and now he's ready to be fostered or adopted.
"There are no words to properly describe Manny's spirit," his rescuers said. "Whether Manny is dragging himself down the road determined to find his way after being abandoned, hopping around at the shelter excited for each new visitor, loving on the staff at the hospital despite the pokes and prods, or speeding along on his new wheels - Manny's spirit is truly unbreakable."
Rescuers say Manny is the type of dog that can change your world and brighten your outlook on life.
"His spirit is truly transformative, and we can all learn something from this beautiful little dog who never gave up hope for better days to come," rescuers said "Your day is coming Manny!
