Bronx teen fatally shot in apparent gun-handling incident; another teen sought
MORRISANIA (WABC) -- A 17-year-old boy was shot and killed inside a Bronx apartment early Monday morning, and police are searching for another teenager who fled the scene.
The shooting happened just after 5:10 a.m. inside a home at 1346 Prospect Avenue in the Morrisania section of the Bronx. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the head and was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity has not been released pending family notification.
Police are looking for a 16-year-old male who ran from the apartment following the shooting. Investigators described him as medium height and last seen wearing a light-colored T-shirt and beige shorts. No arrests have been made.
Detectives believe the teenagers may have been handling a firearm when it discharged, though the circumstances surrounding the shooting remain under investigation.
