30 kilos of cocaine seized from UPS stores in New York City
NEW YORK (WABC) -- Three alleged drug traffickers are facing charges and are accused of using UPS to smuggle more than 66 pounds of cocaine into New York City.
The drugs were seized from UPS stores in Brooklyn and Manhattan.
The value of the drugs is said to be about $900,000, officials said.
Special agents with Homeland Security say the alleged smugglers were using UPS for interstate drug shipments with fake IDs and surveillance to try to stay ahead of law enforcement.
"Our city's supply of cocaine is surging. Frequently mixed with lethal opioids and other synthetic drugs, cocaine has been detected in over half of all overdose deaths in New York City," said Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget G. Brennan.
