CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn (WABC) -- A suspect is under arrest after a 30-year-old mother was stabbed and killed at a barbecue in Brooklyn last month.
Shakeema Davis was fatally stabbed at a barbecue she threw at Lincoln Terrace Park on Aug. 18.
On Tuesday, police said 25-year-old Deandre Crearywas charged in her killing.
He is charged with murder, endangering the welfare of a child and criminal possession of a weapon.
Davis was at the barbecue with her 7-year-old son when the person of interest arrived. As the night wore on, police say he repeatedly hit on her, and she rejected his advances.
Eventually it became physical between the two and she threw a drink on him, then picked up a barbecue and hit him with it, in a failed attempt to fend him off.
Police say the man pulled a knife and stabbed Davis multiple times throughout her body and her head.
