CROWN HEIGHTS, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Police in Brooklyn are searching for the man who stabbed and killed a 30-year-old woman in Crown Heights after an apparent dispute early Tuesday.

The victim was found with multiple stab wounds throughout her body inside Lincoln Terrace Park near Eastern Parkway and Rochester Avenue just after 12:40 a.m.

Witnesses say the victim, identified by police as Shakeema Davis, was in an argument with a man moments before she was killed.

It happened during a late-night barbecue less than half a mile from her home and the victim's friends said she was with her 7-year-old son when she was attacked.

"It hurts me to see my nephew sitting up there asking 'where's mommy,' he witnessed the whole thing, the whole thing," said Davis' friend Fetty.

Davis' friends said she has seen her attacker before, but didn't know him well.

"A little argument, a minuscule argument that didn't make sense, it could've been avoided," Fetty said.

Davis was rushed to Brookdale Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

"Men are desperate, you could've just walked away and respected what she said, you shouldn't ever disrespect a female in front of her child, at all, period," said friend Alasha Stevenson.

Police said a male suspect fled the scene toward Rochester Avenue following the attack. He was last seen wearing gray sweatpants and no shirt.

The death marks the second murder in Crown Heights in 48 hours after a mother of five was killed early Sunday morning outside a club.
