NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- Fewer homeless New Yorkers died last year, according to a new report.
The numbers are significantly better. 634 homeless New Yorkers died in 2025 while 770 died in 2024.
This marks the first decrease in seven years.
Drug overdoses remain the top cause of death.
City officials say expanded outreach led to a 30% decline in drug-related deaths last year.
They also say each shelter is equipped with naloxone kits, fentanyl testing strips and on-site counselors to help anyone.
