October best bets for Halloween shopping, early holiday sales on toys | 7 On Your Side
NEW YORK (WABC) -- Don't get ghosted on good buys this October, because you'll be haunted with buyer's remorse if you purchase items when they're not on sale.
7 On Your Side has your best bets for "spooktacular" savings, as savvy shoppers know to wait until late in the month for discounted décor, candy and costumes.
"Everything is going to start going on sale closer to Halloween. So, if you can wait until the last week of Halloween to buy your costume and candy," said Andrea Woroch, a consumer shopping expert.
Experts advise that customers should time their purchases by targeting deal days.
Target Circle Week begins October 5, Kohl's fall sales kicks off October 6 and Walmart's "Deals Days" run between October 7-12.
This is all to compete with Amazon's Prime Days, which are October 7-8 this fall.
"This is the best time to buy Amazon-owned products, especially in the electronics category. So, think Fire TV devices, Echo show devices, E-Kindle reader, Fire tablets, even the Ring video doorbell," Woroch said.
Woroch says you have to compare to know if a deal is really a deal. Be sure to check order history and price track any items that you have your eyes on.
"I love using Target Circle's barcode scanner, because it'll show you if the price is cheaper online at Target versus in-store, and the store associates will match that online price," she said.
Target will be rewarding members with seven days of sale. Be on the lookout for deals on Apple products, Bissell vacuums, fall clothes and shoes, including brand names. Plus, all retailers are offering early holiday sales on toys.
"I would say the products that are most be impacted by tariffs later in the year around the holidays are toys, fast fashion, so the sooner you shop the more likely you are to get a better deal," Woroch said.
Another trick for October: Don't buy anything with a plug. Treats like tech, TVs and kitchen gadgets are all cheaper on Black Friday, which is only eight weeks away.
