7 train service suspended this weekend and Memorial Day weekend

7 train to close through Monday for station improvements

NEW YORK (WABC) -- Number 7 subway service is suspended this weekend and over Memorial Day weekend for repairs, forcing Queens commuters to find another way into Manhattan.

The MTA says they will be making "critical platform and accessibility improvements at several stations along the 7-line in Queens."

Along with station renewal work along the line, MTA will be shoring up flood protection within the Steinway Tube, which carries the train under the East River.

The work is part of years long efforts to update the train line.

The MTA released the following:

Weekends, May 8-11 and May 22-25, 7 trains aren't running between 74 St-Broadway in Queens and 34 St-Hudson Yards in Manhattan in either direction during two weekends in May:
- From 11:30 p.m. Friday, May 8 to 3:30 a.m. Monday, May 11
- From 11:30 p.m. Friday, May 22 to 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 25

The travel alternatives for those weekends are as follows:

Free shuttle buses will run along three routes:
- T320 between 74 St-Broadway and Queensboro Plaza, making local train stops.
- T323 between Queensboro Plaza and Vernon Blvd-Jackson Av, making local train stops.
- T260 overnight in Manhattan between Times Sq-42 St and 34 St-Hudson Yards
- For travel between Queens and Manhattan, take the trains or LIRR.
- 42 Street Shuttle will run overnight.
- Train service runs more frequently during days and evenings.
- LIRR will accommodate subway riders traveling between Queens and Manhattan for no additional cost at Flushing, Mets-Willets Point, Woodside, Grand Central Madison, and Penn Station. Check LIRR service and schedules.

From May 8-11, Flushing-bound trains will skip 82 St, 90 St, 103 St, and 111 St.
- For service to skipped stations, take the train to Junction Blvd or Mets-Willets Point and transfer to a Manhattan-bound train.
- For service from skipped stations, take the train to Junction Blvd or 74 St-Broadway and transfer to a Flushing-bound train.
- Trains are running between Flushing-Main St and 74 St-Broadway (the last stop), every 8 minutes during the day and evening from May 8-11 and every 10 minutes during the day and evening from May 22-25.

May 11-22
- From 3:01 a.m. Monday, May 11 through Friday, May 22, Manhattan-bound trains will skip 69 St, 52 St, 46 St-Bliss St, and 33 St-Rawson St in Queens.
- For service to/from bypassed stations, use nearby 74 St-Broadway, Woodside-61 St, or 40 St-Lowery St stations.
- For service to skipped stations, take the train to Woodside-61 St, 40 St-Lowery St or Queensboro Plaza and transfer to a Flushing-bound train.
- For service from skipped stations, take the train to 40 St-Lowery St, Woodside-61 St or 74 St-Broadway and transfer to a Manhattan-bound train.
- All trains at Woodside-61 St will board from the Flushing-bound platform. There will be a temporary platform located at 40 St-Lowery St.

Starting May 25
- From 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 25 through 2027, Flushing-bound trains will skip 52 St and 69 St in Queens.
- For service to/from bypassed stations, use nearby 46 St-Bliss St, Woodside-61 St, or 74 St-Broadway stations.
- For service to skipped stations, take the train to to Woodside-61 St or 74 St-Broadway and transfer to a Manhattan-bound train.
- For service from skipped stations, take the train to 46 St-Bliss St or Woodside-61 St and transfer to a Flushing-bound train.
- All trains at Woodside-61 St will board from the Manhattan-bound platform. There will be temporary platforms located at 33 St-Rawson St, 40 St-Lowery St, and 46 St-Bliss St.
- During rush hours, Manhattan-bound express trains will run local from 74 St-Broadway to Queensboro Plaza. Flushing-bound trains will run local from Queensboro Plaza to 61 St-Woodside, skipping 74 St-Broadway.
