A freak accident

May 22, 2014 (WABC) -- It's one of those bizarre accidents the odds seem impossible, but it's a kind of it-can-happen-to-anyone tragedy that we're all talking about it.

A car on the Grand Central Parkway runs over a piece of metal, which ricochets up, hits the gas tank, and ignites the vehicle. By the time it was over, a passenger in the backseat was killed, unable to get out of the inferno in time. Two people in the front did manage to get out.

What can be done? Maybe nothing. Just a tragic accident, unless someone threw the metal onto the road. We just don't know. But our Tim Fleischer is on the story for us, tonight at 11.

And, by the way, here's the incredible and incredibly frightening video of the accident, posted on YouTube, courtesy of Joe Wozniak:

Also at 11, it sits mostly empty, despite what or many is its political significance. Talking about One World Trade Center, the tallest building in the U.S. Now comes word that, worried about the alarming lack of tenants - despite what some real estate experts predict will eventually be a successful building - the "owners" are slashing the cost of rental space.

Want some office space? You can now have One World Trade space for the bargain-basement price of $69 per square foot, down from $75. That cost is still higher than the average
price for office space in Lower Manhattan.

Meanwhile, The Durst Organization announced the first new tenant in the building in 3 years: "Kids," a branding and design firm, signing a least for nearly 35,000 square feet.
But no worry, still lots of space available. Hundreds of thousands of square feet.

We'll also have any breaking news of the night, plus Meteorologist Lee Goldberg's AccuWeather forecast (with some rain coming through tonight), and Rob Powers with the night's sports, including the Rangers' bid to advance into the Stanley Cup finals.

I hope you can join Sade Baderinwa and me, tonight at 11.
