PROSPECT PARK, Brooklyn (WABC) -- It was a beautiful day in Brooklyn on Saturday for a very important cause.

The 18th annual 'Teal 5K Fun Run' was held in Prospect Park. 'TEAL' stands for 'Tell Every Amazing Lady' about Ovarian Cancer.

Eyewitness News reporter Stacey Sager, who is herself a survivor, also participated in the run.

Survivors say the positive energy, support and encouragement is the best medicine.

"It feels amazing. I have a large family group with me today, so it's amazing to see all the people who were thinking of me and praying for me during my time, all come out together. It feels awesome," said Vanessa Suscreba from Garfield, New Jersey.

September is National Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month.

ABC7 is a proud community partner for the TEAL 5K.
