Hazmat crews respond to gas leak following basement explosion in NJ

BELLEVILLE, New Jersey (WABC) -- Emergency crews in Belleville, New Jersey are responding to a gas leak that started as a basement explosion.

The mayor of Belleville shared video on his Facebook page.

The explosion happened on Division Avenue around 11 p.m. Thursday.

At one point early Friday, neighbors on Division Avenue near Belleville High School were told to evacuate.

Hazmat crews are also responding to reports of other gas leaks in surrounding areas.

So far, there are no reported injuries.
