NEW YORK (WABC) -- Another wrongly accused defendant, who spent 17 years behind bars based on a case worked on by disgraced NYPD Det. Louis Scarcella, had his conviction overturned Tuesday.
53 year old Roger Logan was serving 25 years to life for the 1997 murder of Sherwin Gibbons. An investigation by new District Attorney Ken Thompson's Conviction Review Unit found that the woman who identified Logan as the killer was actually in police custody for much of the day of the murder.
This was the seventh wrongful conviction Thompson has vacated since he took office.
Some 50 cases investigated by Scarcella are being reviewed.
The Brooklyn District Attorney's office has determined it will stand by 11 of the Scarcella cases it has reviewed so far.
