EAST HARLEM (WABC) -- The death of a one month old-boy in an East Harlem apartment has been ruled a homicide.

The cause of death for Deion McNeil was determined to be multiple blunt impact injuries including skull fractures and brain injuries.

Police discovered the infant unconscious when they arrived at the Washington Houses Friday night after a desperate 911 call.

Inside a unit on the 9th floor, 23 day old McNeil was found bleeding and unresponsive while in the care of his mother and two siblings.A six-year-old brother originally told police he found the infant behind the couch, however now police believe it's possible he may have dropped him.

The children's mother told detectives she was sleeping. When she woke up, only her 1 1/2 year old daughter was in the bedroom.

She went to the living room and asked the older brother where the infant was, according to police, who said he pointed at the couch.

She found the infant behind the couch face up, brought him to the bedroom and noticed a gash on the forehead. She attempted CPR and called 911 but the child died at the hospital.
