Suspects arrested in connection to Fairfield, CT armed robbery

FAIRFIELD, Connecticut (WABC) -- A shelter-in-place order for residents in Fairfield was lifted Thursday morning after police say they found all four suspects they believe were involved in a home break-in.

The break-in happened around 2:30 a.m. at a residence near Candlewood Road and Black Rock Turnpike.

It prompted police to go door to door in the area and in nearby Hamden looking for the suspects.

Out of an abundance of caution, McKinley Elementary School and Fairfield Warde High School were closed for the day.

"We responded pretty quickly and were able to take one into custody without incident relatively early on and then from there, we believe three other assailants were involved," said Fairfield Police Department Det. Jason Takacs.

My mid-morning the house was secured and the focus shifted to collecting evidence as part of the investigation.

Police say there is no more threat to public safety.

Few other details were released.
