Fast-moving fire destroys restaurant, 6 boats at Long Island marina

NASSAU COUNTY, New York (WABC) -- Strong winds fueled by Hurricane Erin led to a fast-moving fire that ripped through a restaurant and multiple boats at a marina on Long Island.

Video shows firefighters battling the fire around 9:30 p.m. on Thursday at the Treasure Island Marina in Seaford.

Upon arrival, first responders found Crabby Amy's restaurant on Ocean Avenue fully engulfed in flames. The waterfront restaurant, which was flooded by Superstorm Sandy in 2013, was severely damaged as well as the attached marina.

Additionally, at least six boats docked to the restaurant were also damaged in the fire. Two of the boats broke off during the fire and had to be towed back to shore, according to Nassau County police. Officials say a fuel spill in the waterway from the boats prompted the Coast Guard to also respond to the fire.

Police say 100 firefighters, some in fire boats, responded to battle the flames, which were put under control about an hour later.

No one was injured as a result of the fire and no criminality is suspected at this time.

Authorities are now trying to determine the cause of the fire.
