FREEPORT, New York (WABC) -- Police have arrested and charged a driver in a hit-and-run that killed a man on Long Island last month.

Michael Bonner, 40, is charged with leaving the scene of an incident resulting in death and tampering with physical evidence in the deadly incident in Nassau County.

The hit-and-run happened on Merrick Road in Freeport around 8 p.m. on March 25.

Nassau County Police say 66-year-old Narciso Guerra Lopez was crossing the road when he was struck by Bonner's car.
