GARDEN CITY, Long Island (WABC) -- A 12,000-gallon gasoline tanker overturned during an accident on Long Island Monday night.
The Westbury Fire Department responded to a motor vehicle accident involving an overturned 12,000-gallon gasoline tanker at Old Country Road and Clinton Road in Garden City just after 8 p.m.
The tanker had a full load of product before it flipped on its side, prompting Nassau County Fire Marshal's Hazardous Materials Division to be requested.
Officials say the leak was believed to be stopped with only 200 gallons of gasoline having spilled. They say much of what spilled has been contained.
The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation has been notified.
Officials say there is one known injury, but no has been taken to the hospital yet.
The scene is still active, and officials said to expect disruptions to traffic.
