How to avoid scams from imposters claiming to be your loved ones

NEW YORK (WABC) -- With artificial intelligence getting smarter and smarter, it's getting harder to spot the scams we get on our devices.

That's why we have 7 On Your Side's Nina Pineda.

It's Day 8 in our series, the 12 Scams of Christmas.

Con artists are wrapping themselves up in fake identities to turn your holiday cheer into jeer!

They can pretend to be a utility or the IRS, but having someone pretend to be a loved one in trouble is where they really get people good, and grandparents are especially susceptible.

Nina Pineda asked the director of Victim Support from the AARP's Fraud Watch Network what to look out for.
