More skeletal remains found in Coney Island after discovery of human skull

Police investigate discovery of skull off the boardwalk in Coney Island

CONEY ISLAND, Brooklyn (WABC) -- More skeletal remains were discovered in Coney Island on Wednesday afternoon following the discovery of a human skull off the boardwalk on Tuesday.

The skull was found off Riegelmann Boardwalk between W. 32 Street and W. 33rd Street just before 6 p.m. Tuesday

The Medical Examiner and the NYPD were continuing to investigate the scene on Wednesday, where they found more remains.

Police climbed into the heavy brush to remove arms, legs and some other bones, but say parts of the body are still missing.

Authorities say the remains had been there a long time.

The Medical Examiner will determine the person's cause of death.

The identity of the remains is not yet known.
