MASHANTUCKET, Conn. (WABC) -- You may be looking forward to eating a lot of turkey this Thanksgiving.

But your meal probably won't look like the one in Mashantucket, Connecticut, where a turkey eating contest was held Saturday.

The winner, who set a record by eating an entire bird, was a familiar face.

Competitive eating champion Joey Chestnut, the perennial champ at the Nathan's Hot Dog eating contest on the 4th of July, took home a $5,000 check after stuffing his face with turkey.

All of that turkey was consumed in less than ten minutes. Chestnut ate 9.35 pounds of turkey meat off the bone.

Chestnut noted, "It's before Thanksgiving when everybody is a competitive eater and turkey's awesome. I'm just happy to be here."
