Jones Beach to showcase futuristic drone performance for Memorial Day

JONES BEACH (WABC) -- Organizers on Long Island are taking the Jones Beach air show to another level this summer.

The air show, which is usually on Memorial Day, will now be on the 4th of July weekend in celebration of America's 250th anniversary.

On Memorial Day, a show will feature a drone performance.

Governor Kathy Hochul announced the Memorial Day event will include a Revolutionary War reenactment village, a live music performance and a 1,000 drone aerial show.

"It's the perfect place here on Long Island to celebrate the beginning of our nation from the battle of Long Island in 1776, when General Washington defended Brooklyn from British invasion to America's victory that could have never happened without Long Island or New York," Hochul said.

The event kicks off a summer full of 250th celebrations across the island, including the annual Jones Beach air show.

The Governor also announced that parking will be free at Jones Beach on Memorial Day weekend.
