
NEWARK, New Jersey (WABC) -- While many of us will have to wait a week for surprises from Santa, some kids in Newark, New Jersey got to meet him Wednesday morning and pick out a toy of their choice.
City leaders and firefighters have teamed up to make sure kids around the city experience the joy of the holidays.
Newark police officers and firefighters played the elves, with plenty to hand out at the Prudential Center. The atrium was filled with kids, who got a special surprise from Santa on Wednesday.
It's a week too early for the reindeer, so the Newark Police helicopter stepped up to get Santa to the party on time.
Thanks to the United States Marines and its annual Toys for Tots drive, thousands of toys landed in eager hands, lighting up little faces early.
