
MELVILLE, Long Island (WABC) -- Repair work was completed Friday morning on a large sinkhole on the Long Island Expressway in Suffolk County.
Westbound lanes were reopened in Melville near exit 49N after several hours of repairs.

The sinkhole was approximately 10 feet in diameter and 8 feet deep.
NewsCopter 7 was over the scene and could see a car that appeared to be stuck in the hole on Thursday.
No one was injured.
Nearly all lanes were reopened Friday. The Northern State Parkway was suggested as an alternative during the repair work.
