
MELVILLE, Long Island (WABC) -- Repair work is underway Friday morning on a large sinkhole on the Long Island Expressway in Suffolk County.
One westbound lanes remained closed in Melville near exit 49N and was expected to be affected until at least the evening commute.

The sinkhole is approximately 10 feet in diameter and 8 feet deep.
NewsCopter 7 was over the scene and could see a car that appeared to be stuck in the hole on Thursday.
No one was injured.
The left lane, center lane, and the HOV lanes are open as of Friday morning causing some backups. The Northern State Parkway is suggested as an alternative.
