NYPD trying to identify man wanted for attempted rape in Brooklyn

BROWNSVILLE, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Police in Brooklyn are searching for the man who attempted to rape a woman in Brownsville.

The NYPD released surveillance video of the man they say punched a 25-year-old woman in the face and tried to take off her clothes.

It happened around 11:35 p.m. Sunday near Watkins Street and Livonia Avenue.

The attacker ended up running away from the scene.

The victim was taken by EMS to an area hospital in stable condition.

The Brooklyn Special Victims Squad is investigating.

The suspect is described as a man with dark complexion and was last seen wearing a green jacket with white sleeves.
