Adams administration community advocate speaks out on firing after posts on Charlie Kirk

NEW YORK CITY (WABC) -- A former aide to Mayor Eric Adams who was fired over his comments about Charlie Kirk's death is speaking out.

In a statement posted to Facebook, community advocate Tony Herbert said in part, "Let me be very clear. I don't support and have never ever supported, condoned, or celebrated the killing of anyone. I accept the consequences of my actions as there are policies in place in the office of the mayor that must be followed, which I violated."

Herbert originally posted to X, calling Kirk's assassination, "karma."

A spokesperson for City Hall said those views are counter to the Adams administration, which stands united against hate.

Herbert was already on leave when he was let go, earlier this week.
