Mets to hold special ceremony to honor 1986 Championship team

FLUSHING, Queens (WABC) -- Hundreds of Mets fans waited for hours outside Citi Field to see players from the 1986 championship team roll through.

The first-place Amazins honored the 1986 World Champion Mets on Saturday before the game against the Los Angeles Dodgers.

Where are the 1986 Mets up to today?

On Friday, fans who attended the sold out game got replica 1986 jerseys.

"I gave up my Game 6 ticket to get a second Game 7 ticket, so I could bring my Dad, and it was the most memorable night of our lives. Just being with my Dad, and I was able to sneak a bottle of champagne...security wasn't as tight then," said Marty Marks.

"I grew up with the 1986 Mets. Those are my Mets. I was crying - 10th inning Game 6,I was crying," added Sal Cappello, "And then the ball goes through Buckner's leg, and the rest, it was just beautiful.
