FAR ROCKAWAY (WABC) -- A New York City bus was struck by a stray bullet in a shooting that left a young man on the street injured in Queens.
The Q22 bus was heading eastbound at Beach 67th Street and Beach Channel Drive around 8:15 p.m. Monday when police said a 21-year-old was shot on the street at Beach 70th Street. He was hit in the right leg, and several stray bullets went through a window on the MTA bus.
No one on the bus was hit, but 35 passengers were on board at the time. Four windows were shot out.
It's not clear what the motive was or if the victim was the intended target, but police believe the incident stemmed from a dispute on the street. The bus and those on board are believed to have been caught in the crossfire.
The victim was taken to Jamaica Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
Police are still searching for the shooter, and the investigation is ongoing.
