QUEENS (WABC) -- The NYPD is searching for suspects after motor oil and feces were thrown at two Queens synagogues last month.

The suspects were caught on camera tossing the mixture at Young Israel of Jamaica Estates on 188th Street on July 16.

Police say the same duo targeted the Young Israel of Holliswood on Francis Lewis Boulevard before that.

Worshippers arrived to services Friday morning to find the noxious concoction outside their houses of worship.

"It left a little bit of a mess in the front area," said Young Israel of Jamaica Estates President Adam Orlow. "People came the next morning for prayers and that's when it was noticed."

Orlow said they are concerned that someone would come into their peaceful neighborhood to do this.

Since the vandalism, Orlow said his synagogue has installed cement security barriers to stop vehicles from crashing into the building.

"I'm pretty confident in saying that we're not the only synagogue that has that concern," Orlow said. "Every synagogue in New York City has to worry about this in a way we never had to in the past, ever."

Orlow said the Jewish community will not be intimidated.

"The Jews of New York City are not going anywhere so you're not going to intimidate us and my hope is that you are caught and learn a lesson and learn that that is not the way to express yourself," Orlow said.

The incidents are under investigation by the NYPD's Hate Crimes Task Force.
