85-year-old grandmother stabbed to death inside Bed-Stuy home; police questioning grandson

BEDFORD-STUYVESANT, Brooklyn (WABC) -- An 85-year-old grandmother was stabbed to death at her home in Bed-Stuy in what police are investigating as a domestic violence killing.

It happened at a home on Throop Avenue just before 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Police identified the victim on Wednesday as 85-year-old Julia Boomer.

Boomer was stabbed multiple times in the face, neck and torso. Her daughter, who witnessed the crime, called 911.

She was taken to the hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police say the victim's 22-year-old grandson left the scene following the stabbing but returned.

He was taken to the hospital for an evaluation

So far no charges have been filed.

Police say Boomer and her grandson have one prior domestic incident report on record with police and he has two prior arrests for grand larceny and assault and harassment and petty larceny.

One man Eyewitness News spoke with said that Boomer had lived in Bed-Stuy her whole life, was pleasant and went to church.
