EAST NEW YORK, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Power problems caused an elevator outage at a NYCHA building in Brooklyn on Friday.
One resident who uses a wheelchair could not get to his apartment at Unity Plaza in East New York - and needed his heart medication.
The resident named David was stuck outside in the heat since early Friday afternoon. NYCHA staff eventually brought him to his apartment, but his wheelchair remained outside.
NYCHA says elevator mechanics are responding to developments across the city where elevator service has been affected by low voltage conditions. They are encouraging residents who are in need of extra assistance to call its customer contact center.
