NEW JERSEY (WABC) -- A student attending Rutgers University has received a tremendous honor.
Omar Abuattieh was chosen as a 2026 Rhodes Scholar.
Academics come naturally to the Palestinian-American student, who is originally from Holmdel, New Jersey.
He is a doctoral student in Rutger's School of Pharmacy, and is the first-ever student to be selected from that program.
The 23-year-old is also a Holmdel County Committeeman and he hopes to go to law school.
Abuattieh has already earned a prestigious scholarship this year for his commitment to public service.
Now, he will join a cohort at the University of Oxford, to continue his studies in patient-centric care.
