4 arrested following police chase with stolen Lamborghini

NEW JERSEY (WABC) -- A stolen purple Lamborghini reached over 100 mph as thieves tried in vain to evade capture during an intense police chase that began in Elmwood Park and ended in Irvington, New Jersey early Monday morning.

Multiple people were arrested, including the suspected driver, with at least one other suspect still on the run.

The car was taken from Elmwood Park just after 3:15 a.m.

The stolen vehicle sped down Route 17, leaving Garden State Parkway with police in high-speed pursuit.

Images from NewsCopter 7 showed a blown left front tire, damaged in a spike strip deployment by police as they worked to end the chase.

The driver took the disabled Lamborghini onto local roads in Irvington, where it was boxed in.

Police were able to arrest several people as they fled, but at least one person got away.

The investigation is underway, with New Jersey State Police and various local police departments coordinating.
