STAMFORD (WABC) -- A Connecticut CEO who was caught on camera kicking a dog in an elevator has resigned.
Desmond Hague stepped down from his role as chief executive of Centerplate, a pro and college stadium food service company based in Stamford.
The video popped up last month, showing Hague kicking a dog and even lifting the animal off the ground by its leash.
The company had originally announced that Hague would keep his job.
The company said it doesn't condone or overlook animal abuse and the board chairman apologized for any distress caused anyone.
Hague said in a statement that he is "ashamed and deeply embarrassed" by his actions, caught on camera in the elevator of a downtown building in Vancouver, British Columbia. He said he was frustrated at the time. He also apologized.
The company says Chris Verros was appointed acting president and CEO.
