
NORTH AMITYVILLE, New York (WABC) -- Two people are recovering from their injuries after two cars collided in Suffolk County on Long Island over the weekend.
The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. on Sunday on Schleigel Boulevard in North Amityville.
According to Suffolk County police, Andre-Marcel Devieux, 28, was driving in a Jeep Cherokee southbound on Schleigel Boulevard, near Columubus Boulevard, when the car veered into the northbound lanes and struck a Volkswagen.
The driver of the Volkwagen, Henry Foster, 34, suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision. A 28-year-old female passenger in Foster's car also suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Both victims had to be extricated from the mangled car and were taken to the hospital for treatment.
Devieux was not injured during the crash.

Officials say one vehicle landed on the front yard of a home, narrowly missing the structure. Another came to rest in front of a church.
Both vehicles have since been impounded for safety checks.
