Up Close: Metro North accident

NEW YORK (WABC) -- The NTSB investigation is underway after the horrific train accident in Valhalla.

Was it just a one in a million accident, perhaps the fault of human error, or can more be learned from what happened that could prevent other accidents?

The Metro North train crashed into an SUV, killing the driver and five people in the first car of the train.

At the time of the accident there were 650 people on the train. One of those riders, Paul Fallon, who was in the first car, joins us this week along with the editor and chief of Railway Age magazine, Bill Vantuono.

Also, this week we saw a childhood illness suddenly become a national political issue.

Measles cases are on the rise, and it's intensifying the vaccine debate.

Some parents are now demanding to know if their kids' friends are vaccinated before letting them play together. The American Academy of Pediatrics urges parents to vaccinate their children, but some parents have refused.

We'll talk to one of them, Zoey O'Toole with Thinking Moms Revolution.

Also with us to discuss the issue of measles is ABC's Chief Health and Medical Editor, Dr. Richard Besser.
