How to avoid scams as the US government stops issuing paper checks

In an effort to reduce fraud, theft and delays, most government agencies are going to stop printing checks.

The change was mandated by a presidential executive order, and it kicks in on Tuesday.

It applies to benefits like tax refunds and social security checks. So, if you still get your payment with paper, it's time to switch to electronic payments.
