NEW BRIGHTON, Staten Island (WABC) -- Police have made an arrest after an Italian citizen was shot by a stray bullet on Staten Island.

Henry Degroat, 19, is charged with opening fire in New Brighton on Sunday afternoon.

Authorities say he shot 57-year-old Marino Stocco in the shoulder while the victim was sitting down to rest at a playground shortly after getting off the Staten Island Ferry.

Stocco is in the United States on a work visa.

Police say Degroat was discovered in an abandoned house across the street from the scene.
