Man accused of fatally beating puppy

NEW JERSEY Renzo Saco of Mine Hill faces multiple animal-cruelty charges after he allegedly crushed the 3-month-old Yorkshire Terrier's skull and broke its neck. Authorities charge he then threw its body into some woods behind a mall in Roxbury last week.

A witness contacted authorities, who found the puppy's body.

Saco's girlfriend bought the puppy in February and named him Boogie.

On the day it went missing, she said Saco told her the dog - which weighed about 3 pounds - had gotten out of the house and he couldn't find it.

Saco was being held Wednesday at the Morris County Jail on $30,000 bail.
