Crash for cash: Someone's knocking off ATMs

NEW YORK All that's left is the cable that once connected it to the various ATM networks.

Police say two men have been knocking over ATMs in the neighborhood with their minivan and then putting the busted cash machines in the van and driving off.

The men are suspected in at least three incidents on Manhattan's Lower East Side around Christmas and New Year's.

They appear on a surveillance tape running over one automated teller machine with a green Dodge Caravan.

Residents say that, except on weekends, the streets are pretty empty late at night. The robberies all happened between 3:00 and 6:00 a.m.

A worker at a store where an ATM still sits said he's worried it might happen to his store next.

Police are hoping someone might recognize the person in the grainy black and white video, before the men decide to hit more of the exposed cash machines.
